Breast Thermal Imaging is now available in Bradenton!
What is Breast Thermal Imaging?
(also known as DITI - Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging, Infrared Mammography or Thermography)
Thermal Imaging is a means of measuring the heat coming from a body. The science of thermal imaging is the application of these heat readings to locate abnormal pathology or function in the body. This method of detection is pain-free, compression-free, and best of all radiation-free!
History books mention that around 480 BC, Hippocrates used to put wet mud on his clients and watched to see where it dried first, this area being warmer than other areas, therefore showing inflammation and heat in the body.
**Please note that YBC Thermal Imaging is one of just two thermal imaging offices in Florida using the“cold water challenge” This "challenge" has been demonstrated as a powerful component of the quantitative and objective analysis performed by our expert and Board Certified thermologist at Therma-Scan Reference Laboratory along with pattern recognition, measured temperature differentials and time-based evolution. Anything less is to ignore important scientific discoveries and risk an inadequate evaluation. using the autonomic system cold challenge as part of the thermal imaging session. Who should have this screening?
Although all women can benefit from breast thermal imaging, it is especially advised for:
Younger women (ages 30 - 50). Statistics indicate that 15% of all breast cancers occur between the ages of 20 and 44*. The more dense the breast tissue is, the more difficult it is for mammography to be effective.
*American Cancer Society – Breast Cancer Guidelines and Statistics, 2005
Women of any age, for whatever reason, who are unable or unwilling to receive standard annual mammograms. This screening can provide a "map" of any questionable area of the breast that may need to be monitored.
It takes years for a tumor to grow thus the earliest possible indication of abnormality is needed to allow for the earliest possible treatment and intervention. Thermal Imaging's role in monitoring breast health is to help in early detection and monitoring of abnormal physiology.
With breast cancer statistic rising, it is important to provide the best possible options in an effort to help prevent all women from developing this tragic disease. In addition to standard annual screenings, breast thermography can provide the earliest possible detection. It is imperative to fight against cancer and breast thermal imaging adds increased possibilities to assist with this fight.
